Environmental Leader Information:

Press Release - Spring 2007

Jonathan & Natalie are proud to announce the certification of THE OXFORD HOUSE INN as an "Environmental Leader" in Maine's lodging businesses.
We are dedicated to positively affecting the well being of our environment at The Oxford House Inn by directing our employees & customers to adopt GREEN practices. We are doing our best to be recognized in supporting & sustaining an environmentally safe and responsible way of living. We became totally SMOKE FREE in 1988. Our success will lie in the collective effort & impact that we and our staff can make in continuing to be a certified GREEN FRIENDLY lodging establishment.  We are conserving energy and water and we have drastically reduced our solid waste. Through the use of:  environmentally safe products - locally grown produce - natural cleaning products - a voluntary launder policy - recycling & composting, we are striving to create a positive environmental impact. Thank you for your help and participation!

Relaxing...

Thank you for a wonderful stay. The inn is lovely and our meal was the best I can remember having. A quite relaxing and memorable stay. Thanks again! Kate Fenton & Rich Sardo

The Inn is surrounded by lakes, mountains and rivers, with many nearby year-round activities.

During our summer months enjoy sandy beaches, hunting, fishing, antique shops, hiking, cycling, golf, skiing, and factory outlet shopping, dining or escape behind the Inn, for spectacular mountain views from the back lawn and gardens.

In the wintertime take a snowy walk, ski or snowshoe right behind the Inn! There are cross country and downhill ski areas closeby. SHAWNEE PEAK, a great family ski area is only 10 minutes away, and MOUNT CRANMORE is just 20 minutes from our door. Take a trip to WILDCAT MOUNTAIN & view the magnificent PRESIDENTIAL RANGE of the WHITE MOUNTAINS while enjoying some great skiing and riding! Some of the ski areas have snow-tubing and ice skating rinks too. And there is always factory outlet shopping just 8 miles away, so stay with us and enjoy lots of nearby Winter fun!

Don't forget HIKING, yes everywhere you turn there is a place to climb.
